A couple weeks back, I replaced the showerhead in my master bathroom. The old showerhead was past its prime and wasn’t operating properly. I spent at least 10 minutes at the home improvement store comparing the dozens of options for a replacement. After careful consideration, I selected a WaterPik showerhead.
The same week, Water Pik, a global leader in personal healthcare products released the findings of its “Behind the Shower Curtain” survey. The study asked 1,000 people what they value about their bathroom experience and what they think about while in the shower.
As in most surveys, there were differences between men and women. Women use their shower time to think about chores, problems and their weight. On the other hand, men spend their time thinking about work, sex and day dreams.
The Water Pik survey’s cumulative results indicate that adults 25-54 think about the following while in the shower:
- To-do lists – 56%
- Problems/worries – 41%
- Day dreams – 33%
- Work – 28%
- Sex – 24%
- Weight – 20%
- Fitness – 14%
- Other – 13%
I put the survey to the test this morning and my results left me at a loss.
You know the character Dory from Finding Nemo? At one point, in sing-song voice, she says, “Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ho. I love to swim. When you want to swim you want to swim.”
Well, that was me this morning.
“Clean the face, clean the face, clean the face.” “Scrub, scrub, scrub the hair.” ”Conditioner makes hair shiny and smooth, smooth and shiny, shiny and smooth.”
Apparently I had the song “So Early in the Morning,” in my head or I wasn’t completely awake. I didn’t think about anything detailed on the Water Pik survey results. Regardless, when I got dressed I was refreshed and ready to start the day.
Then it all came together for me. Perhaps Water Pik had achieved exactly what they set out to do. To create a unique shower experience that would wash my troubles away.
I need to pay bills now, but I think I’ll take a shower first.
What do you think about in the shower?
